So, what I’ve always tried to do with this series is to help individuals awaken that shaman on the inside that they have forgotten culturally.

An important lesson here is about community.  Many people think that the shamanic journey is an introspective, private one.  And it is.  To an extent.

You see, once the shaman has mastered his inner self, he can begin his truly great work, and start building bonds within a community.  Now this social aspect of the shaman does not meaning telling everyone you’ve found God and you are completely right.  Just the opposite really.  The shaman should never force beliefs or ideals on others.  They have their own shamanic journey that may be entirely different from yours, and that’s ok.

A shaman builds healthy bonds and relationships with the people he or she cares about.  Shamanism is not solitary.  You must go into the world and help.  Make this a stronger place.  Make this a better, cleaner place.  Make this a spiritual place again.  Our old Mother misses her children.

Use the green darts.  Connect the dots.

This is copied from my new tumblelog which will be documenting the trip mentioned below.

Welcome everyone to my new tumblelog. I’ll be using this to document my travels across the US, and possibly other parts of the world. Right now I’m still in the getting ready process.

Within the next week or two I(and my friend Scarab) will be departing on a trip around the US. There is a very good chance that we will be hitchhiking a majority of the trip. It’s also really possible that we will be hopping trains throughout the south.

The purpose of the trip is the all-important pursuit of the American Dream. We are young and terribly aware of the Fear. We need more experiences in order to become the people we want to be.

Everyone has been super helpful so far. Here’s a couple of examples.

Dark Gracie posted this. Which has lead to several donations already.

$36 donated thus far. First to donate – BrooklynBeast

Sorenj was kind enough to post a link on his blog to the original note from Gracie.

Epiphani has graciously donated a Sony Vaio laptop for the trip.

Things are looking good, but we can always use more.

You can help by linking to me in anyway, or by donating. Send all donations via PayPal to jackstravelfund at yahoo dot com.

Thanks for everything and much love!

As we near the end of Developmental Theology 089, I am debating releasing it as a printed soft cover.  I need some feedback.  Comment away!  Tell your friends!

First off, does the idea of them in a book interest you at all?

Secondly, do you have any short thoughts you’d like to contribute to a fan section.  You can be credited or remain anonymous.  You mail email these to me, lhasa got jack at gmail dot com.

Leave thoughts please.  Very important!

We break down walls every day.  Communication walls, intellectual walls, emotional walls, spiritual walls.  Consider it a part of your job to destroy a wall every day.  If you are to take the shaman path, this is your duty.

We cannot forgive those that have never reached for something greater.  That is the basis of the shaman’s power and ability, constantly striving for something more.  There is something out there.  Can you dare to reach for it?

So you guys know that a lot of people look to me when it comes to web 2.0 services, linux programs, random TechGeek wisdom.  “So”, you may ask yourself, “what is he whoring out now?”

The answer there is the web service Pownce

Pownce offers an innovative way to interact with all the different levels of friend or family or colleague.

So here’s some ideas on how to use Pownce to it’s maximum potential.

First, you’ll notice that pownce has a very twittery interface.  you can use this just like you would twitter, to leave short notes to your friends or the public.  But it offers a unique ability to share files, links, and calender events from the same small interface.  You can make these things viewable to 1 friend, all friends, the public, or no one.  Targeted file sharing is the main reason I use pownce.  I  run across a song, or short movie i like, and I just zap it to the people that I know will like it.  You can even use the event and message systems with your GTD system.

Now, another thing you might notice about pownce is that it asks you about other social networks you use.  You can keep a full list of them on your profile or home page and make a nice centralizer here.  Giving yourself and your friends a nice pivot point to take in anything you are doing.

Other than being extremely efficient it also looks pretty damned cool.  If you’re running Windows or Mac you can check out the AIR client here.  (Hopefully Adobe will get AIR over to linux sometime soon.  I really enjoy a lot of programs running on AIR.)

You can also take pownce a little further with a pro account for about $20 a year.  Pro comes with a larger file share size, no ads, and customizable CSS.

It’s no big secret that I love the Firefox based browser, Flock, more than any other web 2.0 tool.  So what happened today?  Flock 1.1 was released.  And my life got even easier!

New to Flock

  • Gmail and Yahoo built in!  Saves me a lot of time and memory right there.
  • Picasa support.  Pretty cool.  I might have to start using Picasa
  • MyWorld, the already multi-purpose Flock summary page, is even more robust.

I’ve written about Flock on several occasions, so flip through my blog if you want more.  It is a very happy day for TechGeeks with no life(me!).
